CITY SHOULD THANK DEPARTING
MAESTRO
Baltimore should thank Yuri
Temirkanov for what he's brought to this city and region.
He has enriched our culture. His leadership of the Baltimore Symphony
Orchestra has brought us some of the world's best performers, conductors
and outstanding musicians -- some of whom now perform in our own orchestra
-- while enhancing the talents of our younger musicians.
He also gave Baltimore the experience of his St. Petersburg-Baltimore
City cultural exchange, which brought wonderful exhibits to our art
museums.
His leadership, like his music, is strong, full, emotional, and rare.
I'm glad we'll be hearing from him for a while longer. And like most
of us BSO supporters, I hope he'll record this time in his and the
BSO's life.
Thank you, Mr. Temirkanov.
